The Barrie Community Health Centre is seeking full-time or part-time permanent Physicians to join our interprofessional team at our new sites in North Barrie and Angus.

The physician works in collaboration with nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, dietitians, diabetic educators, physiotherapists and community health workers to support the health and wellbeing of individuals and families.

Members of the inter-disciplinary team assist with forms, non-medical needs, and allied health support around social complexities.

BCHC physicians work within an interdisciplinary team and are provided with dedicated time for documentation, care coordination, and complex care planning. The model allows comprehensive care without rushed visits.

What you will do:
As a member of the Primary Care Team you will:

  • Perform assessments, diagnosis, treatment, health education/counselling, and other medical functions as required according to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario standards of practice.
  • Participate in the Centre’s on call service.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of medical protocols and directives.
  • Consult with interprofessional team members as required.

What you bring to the role:

  • A Medical degree from a recognized university.
  • CCFP Certification or equivalent practical experiences an asset.
  • Member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Three to five years of primary care experience; preferably in a community health setting.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with electronic medical record and related systems.

What we offer:
BCHC offers a salaried model for compensation. Distinct from a fee-for-service or capitation model, a salaried model mitigates the challenges of dealing with a shrinking schedule of benefits, managing overhead costs and salaries. Benefits include bi-weekly pay (with deductions made at the source). As a salaried model, physicians are not required to do billing, manage staff or maintain responsibility for overhead.

  • On-call stipend: $5,350
  • Comprehensive benefit plan (Extended Health & Dental, Life/AD&D Insurance and EAP)
  • 4 weeks vacation (20 days) to start
  • 12 stat holidays (2 float)
  • 10 days CME
  • 12 sick days
  • 6% of gross annual earnings toward RRSP
  • Predictable hours and work-life balance

The BCHC believes in Human Rights and Dignity for everyone.  We work to achieve equity regardless of individual differences.

Accommodations throughout the recruitment process available upon request.
